Destination Wedding: Jennie & Rushi – Fairmont Mayakoba – Riviera Maya, Mexico

One of the perks of having super bad photographer friends is that you sometimes get invited to second shoot weddings with them. So what do you do when one of your favorite photographers says, “You’re welcome to shoot a wedding in Mexico with me anytime!”? You ask when and where and book a ticket so fast your credit card has smoke rising from the magnetic strip! That’s what happened when the fabulous Fer Juaristi invited me to second shoot Jennie & Rushi’s destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico. When we arrived at the Fairmont Mayakoba, preparations were underway:While Fer stayed with the girls, I stuck with the guys:On our way to meet up with Fer and the girls on a bridge for Jennie & Rushi’s first look, the guys rocked their “stunner shades”, which they found on Amazon for less than $3 each!Jennie’s dress was surprisingly NOT intended to be a wedding gown – it was an off the rack formal dress she found at Bloomingdale’s:Her citron-hued Diane Von Furstenberg shoes were a perfect match for the wedding’s red-orange/lime green color scheme:The cocktail hour and reception were accented with more personal touches, including straws sporting tiny pennants:Since Rushi proposed to Jennie by spelling out “Will you marry me?” during a game of Scrabble, it was only appropriate that the game make an appearance in the decor:I love that they thought ahead and shipped a box of glow in the dark necklaces, lights and funky sunglasses to jazz up the dance floor:What better way to end the night than by jumping in the pool (with the entire bridal party AND some of the guests!)?Stay tuned for pictures from their day after/trash the dress session!
