Engagement: Lauren & Alex – Mobile, Alabama

If you know me, then you know I love to get out of town and shoot in new places, so when Lauren said she and Alex wanted to do their engagement session in Mobile so it would feel more “them”, of course I was game. So I hit the road from Montgomery (where she’s from, and where they were getting married), to Mobile (where they work and live). We met up at the Avenue of the Oaks at Spring Hill College and shot a few pictures there, while plenty of strangers ogled them and made us laugh.avenue of the oaks engagement picturesengagement session in mobile alabamamobile wedding photographer engagement session

We stopped at the Saenger Theatre (where they had watched Gone with the Wind together), and as we walked around downtown Mobile looking for other interesting places to shoot, they told me how they met (a slightly awkward setup by friends) and how she wasn’t sure exactly what to think when he took her to a family function on one of their first official dates. (Note to the men reading this: we girls don’t typically bring someone to a family function unless we’ve been dating a little while, and we’re at least moderately serious about you. Either that, or there’s some family drama that we don’t want to face alone. Or both.) But clearly, the awkward beginning turned out for the best, and brought together two of the nicest people ever. Of course, I may be a little biased because Lauren sent me home with a bunch of Reese’s candy. 🙂saenger theatre engagement picturesmobile alabama engagement session by chanterelle photographydowntown mobile engagement picturesengagement session with graffiti in downtown mobile alabamasunset engagement pictures in mobile

Wedding: Cheryl & Bob – Fountainview Mansion – Auburn, Alabama

The last few weeks have been crazy busy with shooting in Atlanta, Montgomery, and Nashville, so now I’m playing catch-up on the blog with a holiday wedding!   Cheryl & Bob’s Auburn wedding got off to a unique start:  he had a little surprise in store for his bride and his daughter Megan.  Megan’s mom and Bob divorced when Megan was very young, and one of the things she and her dad would do together when she was a toddler is ride around in his grey BMW until she fell asleep.  Over the years, the BMW they called “Baby” picked up some wear and tear, so before the wedding, Bob had it restored so they could use it as the getaway car.  When Bob finished getting dressed at The Hotel at Auburn University, we hatched a plan to lure Megan outside.  It took her a minute to realize what she was looking at.groom getting ready at auburn university hotel bmw getaway car at an auburn alabama weddinggroom and his daughter at an auburn alabama weddinggroom and his daughter hug at an auburn weddinggroom with calla lily boutonniere in alabama

Once the tears were dried, we headed to the beautiful Fountainview Mansion, where wedding planner extraordinaire Julie Bunkley of Invision Events was busy getting everything all aglow in holiday spirit for the evening wedding.fountainview mansion before an auburn evening weddingbrides sparkly glitter shoes and lace gown in alabamacalla lily bouquet at an auburn alabama winter weddingblack and white bridal portrait at fountainview mansionbig diamond wedding rings at an auburn weddingbride peeking down the aisle at an auburn alabama weddinggroom seeing his bride coming down the aisle in auburnwinter wedding ceremony at fountainview mansion

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails while Cheryl and Bob went ahead and cut the cake (from Sonshine Cakes) before everyone sat down in the elegant dining room, complete with flowers from Opelika Floral Company and steak and salmon feast from Christine’s.sonshine cakes holiday wedding at fountainview mansionchampagne toast at fountainview mansion weddingwedding reception dinner at fountainview mansiondinner reception at fountainview in auburn alabamabride and groom at fountainview mansionwedding reception dancing at fountainview mansion in alabama

One of the sweetest moments of the night came when MBS Entertainment played Bob’s parents’ wedding song, “Earth Angel” by The Penguins. Bob’s mom helped his dad get up out of his chair, and he took her for a spin on the dance floor:grooms parents dancing at auburn wedding receptiongroom dancing at auburn alabama wedding receptionbride and groom making grand exit from fountainview mansion

Cheryl & Bob: here’s hoping life together continues to “rock you like a hurricane”!

Wedding: April & Joe – First Baptist Church & Moore’s Mill Club – Opelika & Auburn, Alabama

Now that their wedding has been published on Utterly Engaged, it’s time to show you a little more of April and Joe’s ridiculous cuteness and their fabulous Opelika/Auburn shindig, planned from start to finish by Julie Bunkley at Invision Events.  Since April and Joe wanted to take all of their “formal” pictures before the ceremony and take advantage of the beautiful grounds at Moore’s Mill Club (their reception location), they decided to get ready there as well.  April was all smiles as she and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done by Lynsey Richardson, when a letter arrived with the words “To the girl in the white dress” written on the envelope.bride crying as she reads a letter from the groom
Once the happy tears were wiped away, she slipped into her lace Liancarlo gown, and the silliness continued:mother of the bride zipping up bride's liancarlo gownbride being silly at moores mill club in auburnwedding rings at moores mill club in alabamaringbearer getting dressed at an auburn alabama weddinggroom waiting at moores mill club
Over on the groom’s side, the silliness continued, as one of the groomsmen (who I subsequently nicknamed “Young Jeezy“) started busting a rhyme in the locker room:groomsman rhyming in the locker room in auburnbride and groom first look at moores mill clubbride and groom seeing each other before the ceremonysilly bride and groom portrait at auburn weddingbride and groom walking at auburn alabama weddingbride and groom at moores mill clubbride with hair and makeup by lynseybride and groom at moores mill clubfunny groom with groomsmen picture
Love love looooooooove these soft pastel bouquets by Opelika Floral Company (I am obsessed with ranunculus, and when you throw in some dusty miller, it’s all over). So pretty against the black J. Crew bridesmaids dresses:pastel wedding bouquetsbridesmaids in black j crew dresseswreath by opelika floral companyceremony at first baptist opelika
Their ceremony at First Baptist Church in Opelika was short and sweet, and just before they made their exit, this happened (I told you they were cute):bride and groom high five during ceremonybride and groom outside first baptist opelika
The fading light outside was the perfect backdrop to showcase the glow of the reception back at Moore’s Mill, highlighting the cakes by Sweet Malisa’s, the guest book April made using the pictures I shot during their engagement session, and the basket of flip flops ready to go for tired dancing feet:lights and chandeliers at moores mill pavilionwedding cake by sweet malisaspeanut butter cup cake by sweet malisas auburnflip flops for guests at wedding receptionfirst dance at auburn alabama wedding receptionwedding reception at moore's mill club
And dance they did – at times, the dance floor was so full, it was like being in a club (except without the creepy sweaty guy that tries to impress you with his “moves” and is wildly unsuccessful). Two of the groomsmen even created an impromptu limbo with their ties:groomsmen with neckties tied together for limbogirl doing the limbo at an auburn weddingguests at an auburn alabama wedding receptionbride and groom grand exit at moores mill clubsparkler exit at an auburn alabama wedding receptionbride and groom leave in golf cart at auburn wedding
April & Joe: here’s hoping some of your adorable-ness rubs off on me. Can’t wait to see more of your adventures with Penny Lane!
