Maternity Portrait: April – Davis Arboretum – Auburn, Alabama

A very pregnant April made quite the trek to have me shoot her maternity portraits in a city she was completely unfamiliar with, and did it all by herself because her Auburn grad husband is in the military and hadn’t quite made it home yet.  She did it with a smile too, and let me just tell you, it’s a good one.  You know how some people have smiles that make YOU want to smile?  That’s her.  It’s like a blast of sunshine.  I can only imagine how big that smile was when her hubs was able to come home about a week after we took these pictures.  They didn’t find out the baby’s gender ahead of time, and since some say you can tell by how the baby is carried, I’ll let you guess if they had a boy or a girl:

Engagement: Abigail & Miguel – Snowdoun, Alabama

If you’ve read about me on the website, then you know I’m a long distance runner.  So imagine my happy surprise when I got an email from Abigail asking if we could do our meeting over a run.  She said, “I know it’s probably unorthodox for a meeting, but fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, runners gotta run.”  Word, girl.  WORD.

Turns out, the “unorthodox” request made total sense – these two met when they were both members of the Georgetown University Triathlon Team.  So Abigail and I went for an easy jaunt around downtown Montgomery, where I tried not to die going up South Perry Street.  She told me fun stories about things they did while they were in school, a bit about their upcoming move to Switzerland (yes, you read that correctly), and what it was like to plan their Montgomery wedding from D.C.  It was clear they were going to take on the world together, and when I met up with them for their engagement session, you could see why.  They both have their studious, politely reserved sides, but they’re also fun, affectionate, and well….cheeky:bride grabbing groom's buttbride and groom laughing during engagement session in montgomeryengagement session in montgomery alabamaengagement session in the country in alabamaromantic engagement picture in montgomery alabamablack and white engagement picture in snowdounlaughing during montgomery engagement session

Wedding: Featured on The Bridal Detective blog!

When a wedding blog editor decides to feature one of your weddings because your images are “swoon-worthy”, you do the Running Man dance in your kitchen and don’t care if anyone is looking in the windows (I may have done a little Cabbage Patch too, but I digress).  Thanks to my new friends at The Bridal Detective for featuring Courtney and Greg’s Auburn wedding, showcasing the oh-so-fabulous Fountainview Mansion (click HERE)!wedding featured on the bridal detective wedding blog

Wedding: Zamora & Winfred – Gold Star Park – Wetumpka, Alabama

When Zamora first contacted me about shooting her wedding, I had to give her some bad news: I was already booked for the Saturday in March she was interested in.  But a couple of months later, I heard from her again.  She and Junior (aka Winfred) had decided there was no reason to wait until March, and moved their wedding up to November.  It just happened to be a day when I was available, so when the big day came, I headed to the house they had just finished building to capture the bride (with the most perfectly fierce eyebrows ever) getting ready to put on her Forever Yours gown.

Since they planned their wedding within a short time frame, I didn’t get to meet Junior until shortly before the ceremony at Gold Star Park.  It’s hard not to like him when you see how animated he is:

It was getting colder by the minute as the sun was going down, but Zamora wasn’t about to commit a crime of bridal fashion and throw on just any old coat.  She came prepared with plush winter white fur:

If you know me, then you know I love brides who do things their own way. Rather than having a formal reception, this duo invited everyone to meet them at Olive Garden. It was like a big family dinner, with a half-and-half bride and groom’s cake from A Social Event Caterers for dessert.

Zamora & Junior: thanks so much for letting me eat breadsticks with you – maybe next time Burrito can come too! 🙂
