In honor of my upcoming trip out to the Southwest, I thought I’d post a few snapshots from my trip there last year. These images are from a day in the Valley of Fire, where I ran one hell of a half marathon (hello, steep hills!). When it’s hot out and there’s potential for rain, you shoot fast outside and have an indoor plan. Since Megan wanted the look of an old home, we went to Buena Vista in Prattville so we could have the best of both worlds – a furnished, historical home with areas to shoot outside, even if it did rain. She came prepared with her entourage as well as fabulous makeup done by Rebekah at Lush Makeup Art, and we made sure to even out her socks and not smoosh the poof (don’t ask!)..jpg)

The ceremony was set to take place on the Alley Station rooftop, so when it came time for portraits, we grabbed the gorgeous flowers (by Melissa Kendall) and made our way around The Alley:.jpg)

After Brandi & Phil tied the knot on the rooftop, guests were treated to a reception downstairs in the ballroom with downhome BBQ from Dreamland. Rustic touches such as burlap, branded wood, and cotton all made and appearance, even on the bride and groom’s cakes, made by Icing Illusions..jpg)

They upped the ante on the typical candy bar table by adding treats like Chex mix and trail mix, so that guests could take those home along with the usual sweets in their bags. Of course, it didn’t hurt that they had photo booth type props handy for guests who were high on sugar and in the mood to do something silly. 😉.jpg)
