Snapshots: Valley of Fire State Park – Nevada

In honor of my upcoming trip out to the Southwest, I thought I’d post a few snapshots from my trip there last year. These images are from a day in the Valley of Fire, where I ran one hell of a half marathon (hello, steep hills!). To date, it’s still probably the most scenic (and most difficult) course I’ve ever run. There’s really nothing like this part of the world – enjoy!sun in valley of fireroad in valley of fire state parkred rock in valley of fire nevadastanding in valley of fire state park

Portrait: The Underwood Family – Montgomery, Alabama

You gotta love a family with two super cute little girls, especially when big sister can make little sister laugh. I may need to hire Payton to assist on my baby shoots from now on – she can make kids smile, and she’s pretty entertaining to me too! Bridal Portrait: Megan – Buena Vista Mansion – Prattville, Alabama

When it’s hot out and there’s potential for rain, you shoot fast outside and have an indoor plan. Since Megan wanted the look of an old home, we went to Buena Vista in Prattville so we could have the best of both worlds – a furnished, historical home with areas to shoot outside, even if it did rain. She came prepared with her entourage as well as fabulous makeup done by Rebekah at Lush Makeup Art, and we made sure to even out her socks and not smoosh the poof (don’t ask!).backlit bridal portrait in prattville alabamabride in a lace gown in prattville alabamacute bridal portrait on a bed in prattville alabamabridal portrait session at buena vista mansionbride at buena vista mansion in prattvilleblack and white bridal portrait at buena vista

Wedding: Brandi & Phil – Alley Station Rooftop & Ballroom – Montgomery, Alabama

To a stranger, Brandi was just another bride, getting into her David’s Bridal gown at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel.bride getting dressed at renaissance montgomery hotelbride in the window at the renaissance montgomery hotel in alabama
But to her dad, the sight was enough to bring tears to his eyes.father seeing bride for the first timedramatic bridal portrait at alley stationbride on the alley station rooftop
The ceremony was set to take place on the Alley Station rooftop, so when it came time for portraits, we grabbed the gorgeous flowers (by Melissa Kendall) and made our way around The Alley:flowers by melissa kendall at an alley station weddingbride and groom in the alley in montgomery alabamabride and groom portrait at the alley in montgomerygroom and groomsmen in the alley montgomerysilly bridal party portrait at alley station in montgomeryrustic decor at an alley station weddingalley station rooftop weddingbride and groom exchanging rings on alley station rooftop
After Brandi & Phil tied the knot on the rooftop, guests were treated to a reception downstairs in the ballroom with downhome BBQ from Dreamland. Rustic touches such as burlap, branded wood, and cotton all made and appearance, even on the bride and groom’s cakes, made by Icing Illusions.branded wood and wedding ringsrustic cakes by icing illusions at alley stationbride and groom's first dance at alley station
They upped the ante on the typical candy bar table by adding treats like Chex mix and trail mix, so that guests could take those home along with the usual sweets in their bags. Of course, it didn’t hurt that they had photo booth type props handy for guests who were high on sugar and in the mood to do something silly. 😉rustic candy table at alley stationphoto booth captions at alley stationphoto booth props at alley station weddingbubble exit in the alley montgomery
Brandi & Phil – I’m so glad she went to Jared. Much love and happiness, and no throwing your rings into the river! 😉
