Wedding Rehearsal Dinner: Courtney & Greg – Auburn University Ag Heritage Park – Auburn, Alabama

So what do you get when you combine a barn venue, Shiner Bock, and brisket flown in from The Salt Lick in Austin, TX? A “Beer. Boots, & BBQ” themed rehearsal dinner for Courtney and Greg, on the Auburn University campus:rehearsal dinner at the auburn university ag heritage park barnauburn alabama rehearsal dinner bar

Greg’s dad is a crafty genius – to keep from denting the cans he used to make the candle holders, he filled them with water and froze them before drilling the holes:homemade steel can candle holder votives for an auburn rehearsal dinnerauburn university rehearsal dinner in alabamaflowers by halls opelika for an auburn alabama rehearsal dinnerrustic theme rehearsal dinner in auburn alabamacountry theme wedding rehearsal dinner in auburn alabamawedding rehearsal dinner at auburn university ag heritage park

Engagement: Evonda & Andre – Montgomery, Alabama

This wasn’t your typical engagement session, because technically, Evonda and Andre were already married! But since they had a private ceremony, they decided to plan a “wedding” reception 6 months later for their friends and family to celebrate with them (which is why they needed me :)). So even though they were beyond the “engaged” point, we did the engagement session anyway so we could have a chance to work together before the big party day, where we’d be taking all the same pictures I would typically take at a wedding, with the exception of the ceremony.she said yes sure did downtown montgomery engagement picturea downtown montgomery alabama engagement sessionmontgomery alabama engagement session before an alley station weddinga montgomery alabama couple at their downtown engagement session

I’m all about couple who incorporate the things they love into their pictures. They had their first kiss over a game of Connect Four – but they couldn’t find the game to bring it to the session, so they improvised and brought checkers instead. They also brought their dog, Diesel, who was going to make sure he didn’t get left out. At one point during the session, he scared the crap out of me because he started making this hacking noise like he was choking. I was completely confused because Evonda and Andre were totally calm, until I found out that this was not the first time Diesel had made that noise. Turns out, HE FAKES IT to get attention!!! Little stinker. 🙂 It’s kind of hard to get mad at this face though…a dog at a downtown montgomery engagement session

Wedding: Crystal & Matt – The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort – Kiawah Island, South Carolina

A couple of posts ago, I mentioned having to hold off on posting pictures from a wedding I second shot in the Charleston area. Well, here’s the deal! I’m pretty lucky to have some very talented friends in this industry – one of them happens to be superfly Charleston film photographer Virgil Bunao. We’ve been buddies for several years, so when he needed a digital wingman at one of his weddings, I was happy to do it. Crystal and Matt’s gorgeous soiree was held on The Ocean Course at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort (if that sounds familiar, you might have heard of it because it was where the PGA Championship was played last year). My assignment was to stick with the groom and his men, and shoot as many details as possible along the way. Of course, at a place like this, there was no shortage of beautiful things to photograph:a wedding at kiawah island golf resort ocean coursebride and groom stepping stones at charleston south carolina weddingcrocheted ring bearer pillow and sheet music wedding decorflowers by soiree at a kiawah island weddingsouthern wedding flowers and crocheted table runnerwedding cakes at kiawah island golf resort in south carolinamultiple wedding cakes at a charleston south carolina wedding

The cake topper was custom made to match their wedding attire, and included a guitar as a nod to the musician groom:a custom handmade wedding cake topper with a guitarglass bottles of lemonade at a south carolina southern weddinggroom getting ready in kiawah island golf resort locker roomgroom and groomsmen at kiawah island golf resort weddinggroom at a kiawah island golf resort wedding at the ocean coursegroomsmen at a charleston south carolina weddinggroomsmen doing shots at a charleston south carolina weddinggroom before a kiawah island golf resort weddingletterpress program for a kiawah island golf resort weddingguest taking a picture with his iphone at a kiawah island wedding

The roses on Crystal’s Amsale gown were just stunning:amsale bijou gown at a charleston south carolina weddinga bride and groom after their kiawah island weddinga bride and groom after their charleston south carolina weddingbari jay bridesmaids at a south carolina weddingamsale bijou wedding gown at kiawah island golf resortkiawah island ocean course wedding receptionocean course wedding reception at kiawah island golf resortchampagne bar at a kiawah island golf resort wedding receptionraw bar at kiawah island golf resort wedding reception

In the ballroom, guests enjoyed candlelit family photographs on display, as well as bananas foster, freshly prepared by the chefs on hand:bananas foster at a kiawah island golf resort wedding receptionfirst dance at a kiawah island golf resort wedding reception in south carolina

And once they had enough sugar, they could dance to the sounds of the band Who’s Bad – which featured not one, but TWO Michael Jackson impersonators:michael jackson impersonators in who's bad band at kiawah island wedding receptionbride and groom getaway from kiawah island golf resort wedding receptionbride and groom leave in antique car from kiawah island golf resort

So, the reason for the long wait? I had to hold off on posting these because Virgil had this wedding featured in a gigantic 8 page spread in Charleston Weddings Magazine (check it out on his blog here!). As if that wasn’t enough, it was also featured on Style Me Pretty (click here to see it). Congrats my friend, well deserved!

Portrait: Julie Bunkley, Invision Events – Pike Road, Alabama

The title of this post is a little misleading. Yes, that’s Julie Bunkley, wedding planner/event designer extraordinaire, of Invision Events. As in Invision Events in Auburn. So why the H-E-double-hockey-sticks does it say “Pike Road, Alabama”? Because we did her new headshots at The Waters, where she is the preferred wedding planner (she’s also the preferred planner at Callaway Gardens if you’re keeping score). She was in the process of rebranding her business and thought it would be a good time to update her own picture, so she asked me to overcome her “lack of modeling skills” and whip something up. As you can see, I think she was just being modest. 🙂julie bunkley from invision events wedding planning in auburn alabamathe waters preferred wedding planner julie bunkley of invision eventsmontgomery wedding planner julie bunkley of invision events
