Portrait: Olivia – Kansas City, Missouri

If you follow my Twitter or Facebook, you might remember me mentioning a hardcore 12 hour lighting workshop. Well, while we were honing our skills working on different lighting setups, my photographer friend Olivia and I decided to shoot each other (photographers generally have very few pictures of themselves – ironic, I know). With her tall, blonde, model-ish self, I think I got the easy end of the deal!

Looking back on 2010 – and looking forward to 2011

2010 has been an amazing year – full of unforgettable people, travels, and experiences of a lifetime. When I got to thinking about it, I realized I logged a lot of miles this year, not just in and around Alabama, but also to both coasts and 4 foreign countries:

Mystic, CT
Orange County, CA
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
New York, NY
Las Vegas, NV
Charleston, SC
Ireland & Northern Ireland
Charleston, SC (again!)
Nassau, Bahamas
Orange County, CA (again!)
Nashville, TN
Kansas City, MO
New York, NY (again!)
Orange County, CA (3 times!)

It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that 2010 has been one of the best years of my life. I feel incredibly lucky to have the life I have. I have the best clients on the planet, who trust me to do what I do during some of the most important times of their lives. I have people around me I can trust, and ridiculously talented friends who keep me on my toes. I’ve been able to see parts of the world that many people never get the chance to see. And I have one super bad*ss dog (just look at our Christmas card – she’s way cooler than I am). I am extraordinarily grateful. So THANK YOU to all of you who were a part of it – or will be in 2011! I can’t wait to see what the New Year has to offer, but until then, here’s a little something to help ring in the New Year: a little video of trad music I shot at a pub in Galway, Ireland.

Happy New Year to all of you!

Portrait: Gavin – Blount Cultural Park – Montgomery, Alabama

Oh, Gavin – you and your wispy blonde hair and infectious smile. When it was time to wrap up his series of portraits with a one year session, he brought along the stuffed puppy he sleeps with every night (can you say big time cute factor???):

Happy Holidays 2010 – from Julie & Missy

The 2010 Chanterelle Photography Christmas card is here – with a kick butt rockabilly theme! It gets harder and harder to try and come up with something better than the last year, and when the weather is threatening to cancel the shoot, it makes for a crazy atmosphere. But thanks to some helpful friends, it all worked out in the end! Special thanks to my friend Kamee, who is NOT a photographer and had to take a crash course in focusing and composition, and Shanna, who let me borrow her awesome bike!

Snapshots: New York City Holiday

New York City is one of my favorite cities in the world – I had been there three times before, but never during the holidays. A few weeks ago, I decided that needed to change! So here are a few snaps from around the Big Apple – no big cameras involved. These were all shot with an iPhone!
