Portrait: Traci & Blake – St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Here’s a little more from the St. Croix shooting extravaganza! Traci’s brother Darren was the groom in the St. Croix destination wedding – which she and her boyfriend Blake attended, of course. They have been dating for several years, so they figured it was about time they had some pictures taken. What better place than the fabulous island that you’re already at, right?traciblakeblog2traciblakeblog1traciblakeblog5traciblakeblog3traciblakeblog4

Dunkin’s Next Donut Contest – what’s it got to do with me?

It all started with my client (and friend!) Angie posting a little blurb on her Facebook page – her husband Jeff was a finalist in the Dunkin’ Donuts “Dunkin’s Next Donut” contest. Pretty cool considering the number of entries, right? So I went online and voted for his donut and asked some friends to do the same, but the online voting was only part of the process. She let me know that she and Jeff were going to Boston for the bake-off and judging – AND JEFF WON! Dunkin’ officially announced the winner today, and posted a video on their website. So I checked it out, and was totally shocked to see a clip of their family picture on their wall, which I shot for them when I went to their house in Hoover for a portrait session. So I’m famous by association, haha! You can see the picture in the video around the 1:53 mark, and you can try Jeff’s donut, “Toffee For Your Coffee” at Dunkin’ Donuts in September! Congrats guys, I’m so excited for you!

Destination Wedding: Jessi & Darren’s Trash the Dress Session – Part 2!

Time to show you some more of Jessi & Darren’s Trash the Dress! You gotta love a couple that is willing to do whatever it takes to get an awesome shot, including getting into the ocean in their wedding clothes. You would think the water would have cooled them off, but proceed with caution – these pics get steamy at the end!ttdblog13ttdblog14ttdblog15ttdblog16ttdblog17ttdblog18ttdblog19ttdblog20ttdblog21ttdblog22ttdblog23ttdblog24ttdblog25

Destination Wedding: Jessi & Darren’s Trash the Dress Session – St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Part 1!

Okay, so I’m doing another two part blog post here, sue me! I’ve got too many pictures I’m dying to share, because Jessi & Darren opted to do a “Trash the Dress” session the day after their wedding in St. Croix. If you’re not familiar with what that is, don’t be freaked out by the name. It just means that during the session you are doing things that you normally wouldn’t do on your wedding day for fear of messing up your dress. It can be as extreme as getting into the ocean, or as tame as just sitting on the ground. Sometimes the dress can be cleaned, and sometimes it really is ruined – but what the heck? You’ll never wear it again, so why not get your money’s worth and some kick butt pictures out of it??? 🙂

For Jessi & Darren’s session, my fabulous photographer friend Andy and I agreed that we had to start at the gorgeous Clairmont Mill estate, where the newlyweds were staying. The home was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest, and when we got the grand tour of the home on our first day in St. Croix, we were flipping out over the incredible light that came through the rooms – the home was too beautiful to NOT shoot there.ttdblog1ttdblog2ttdblog3ttdblog4ttdblog5We had to put the clawfoot tub to use somehow – and Jessi wanted some pictures of her wearing the yellow Chuck Taylors Darren had special ordered for her. So we had her throw on her kicks in the tub!ttdblog6ttdblog7ttdblog8I fell in love with this blue door – and when Jessi busted out the blue birdcage veil and her blue wedding shoes, I got a little giddy:ttdblog9ttdblog10Once we wrapped things up at the house, we headed down to Cane Bay. Jessi was a tough cookie, those rocks were painful to walk on with no shoes!ttdblog11ttdblog12Stay tuned for part 2, when Jessi & Darren hit the beach AND get in the water!
