Okay, so I’m doing another two part blog post here, sue me! I’ve got too many pictures I’m dying to share, because Jessi & Darren opted to do a “Trash the Dress” session the day after their wedding in St. Croix. If you’re not familiar with what that is, don’t be freaked out by the name. It just means that during the session you are doing things that you normally wouldn’t do on your wedding day for fear of messing up your dress. It can be as extreme as getting into the ocean, or as tame as just sitting on the ground. Sometimes the dress can be cleaned, and sometimes it really is ruined – but what the heck? You’ll never wear it again, so why not get your money’s worth and some kick butt pictures out of it??? 🙂
For Jessi & Darren’s session, my fabulous photographer friend Andy and I agreed that we had to start at the gorgeous Clairmont Mill estate, where the newlyweds were staying. The home was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest, and when we got the grand tour of the home on our first day in St. Croix, we were flipping out over the incredible light that came through the rooms – the home was too beautiful to NOT shoot there. We had to put the clawfoot tub to use somehow – and Jessi wanted some pictures of her wearing the yellow Chuck Taylors Darren had special ordered for her. So we had her throw on her kicks in the tub!I fell in love with this blue door – and when Jessi busted out the blue birdcage veil and her blue wedding shoes, I got a little giddy:Once we wrapped things up at the house, we headed down to Cane Bay. Jessi was a tough cookie, those rocks were painful to walk on with no shoes!Stay tuned for part 2, when Jessi & Darren hit the beach AND get in the water!
