Wedding: Abigail & Miguel – First United Methodist Church & Montgomery Country Club – Montgomery, Alabama

I figured the duo affectionately known as “Abi-guel” would have a wedding just like them: classic, but with a little something unique here and there.  An unusual emerald engagement ring mixed with a traditional bridal updo, if you will.  Guests flew in from as far away as Miguel’s home country of Portugal, to see Abigail walk down the aisle of First United Methodist Church in an Anna Maier gown:

Melissa Kendall Floral Design added touches of blue and purple through the flowers, which were the perfect complement to the purple ties the guys wore with their dapper morning coats.  Clearly Abigail approved, as the first sight of her groom was enough to bring a tear to her eye.

I love how Abigail and her dad opted to skip the typical “bride walks down the aisle with her hand looped through her dad’s bent arm” stance, and went with the very royal hand-over-hand grip – a little throwback to the days when they attended balls in Montgomery.

Once the ceremony was over and Miguel switched his ring to his left hand (Abigail accidentally put it on his right!), the trolley arrived to transport folks to the Montgomery Country Club reception.  The bride and groom however, had a much more fabulous ride: a red Rolls Royce Corniche, made extra fly with Abigail’s veil trailing out (seriously, the lace on it had me swooning).

Since Abigail and Miguel met at Georgetown University, there were many Hoyas present.  Naturally, a Georgetown chant was inevitable:

A big fan of JoZettie’s Cupcakes, Abigail decided to forego a big bride’s cake and instead chose a small two-tier from Cake Designs to go along with several flavors of cupcakes.  The groom’s cake featured a shoutout to Sporting Club de Portugal.
