Off to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blarneycastle.ie\/\">Blarney Castle<\/a>, to kiss the Blarney Stone.  Legend says if you kiss the stone, you gain the gift of eloquence.  What legend doesn&#8217;t tell you is that you have to climb up a very skinny spiral staircase to get to the stone (claustrophobic people beware).<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/chanterellephotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/irelandphotographer31.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"irelandphotographer31\" width=\"900\" height=\"623\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chanterellephotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/irelandphotographer31.jpg 900w, https:\/\/chanterellephotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/irelandphotographer31-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/>The other thing legend doesn&#8217;t tell you is that you have to lie down and lean WAY back over a ledge to kiss the stone (and yes, that guy&#8217;s only job is to hold onto people to make sure they don&#8217;t fall).  I thought about not doing it, but not because of the heights &#8211; I was just thinking about how many people were kissing the stone before me.  And it&#8217;s not like they bust out alcohol wipes between visitors.  I got over the yuck factor and just did it:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/chanterellephotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/irelandphotographer32.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"irelandphotographer32\" width=\"900\" height=\"643\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chanterellephotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/irelandphotographer32.jpg 900w, https:\/\/chanterellephotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/irelandphotographer32-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/>The next stop was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cork-guide.ie\/cobh.htm\">Cobh<\/a>, the last port of call for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.titanic1.org\/\">Titanic<\/a> before she sailed on her maiden (and only) voyage.  It was also where many Irish men and women left Ireland during the infamous <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyplace.com\/worldhistory\/famine\/\">&#8220;Potato Famine&#8221;<\/a>.<img loading=\"lazy\"
