The Hager Family

Took a little trip to Birmingham to shoot one of my favorite repeat clients and friends, the Hager family. I’m sad they moved away, but at least they didn’t go too far! Congrats on the new house and I hope the move went great!hager1.jpghager2.jpghager3.jpg

September 11, 2001

It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since the day when all of our lives – and the New York City skyline – changed forever. I am willing to bet that you remember where you were when you heard. I was in the car on my way to work, listening to the radio when the first unconfirmed reports started to come in about a plane crashing into the World Trade Center. As soon as I got to work, I turned our little tv on to see Katie Couric on the Today show announcing what had happened. Then via a live shot, I watched the second plane hit the second tower. I thought they were replaying footage that someone had happened to capture of the first plane, and then realized that it was so much more than that. I remembering standing with my hands over my mouth as each tower came down.

And then I saw the Pentagon. And the wreckage of a plane found in a Pennsylvania field.

And then I thought of all the people, who left their homes that morning, for just another day at work. Some of them may have even had the morning’s first cup of coffee on their desks already. And I thought of all the people who boarded the planes without a care in the world, except for maybe worrying a little that their luggage might not make it to their destination with them.

And I was sad.

Then I thought of all the people who rushed into burning buildings without hesitation. All the people who dug through the dust with their bare hands. All the people who decided they wouldn’t let one more plane go down without a fight. All the people who knew their time was short and somehow had the strength to make a final phone call to say “I love you”.

And I was proud.

I’ve been tagged!

I got triple-tagged by three of my fellow photogs: Michelle, Auey, and Ginger!  The way this goes is I am supposed to post 8 things that you probably don’t know about me, then I tag someone else, then they do the same, and so on.  Here are my 8 tidbits:

1.  I have a thing for fun pens.  I am a big list maker, so I’m always using pens and notepads (I have a thing for those too).  Friends give them to me as gifts because they know I’ll like them, so I’ve got everything from pens that light up to ones with feathers, cartoon characters, etc.  The most recent one given to me has a big blue dog with googly eyes on the top.

2. I can do a mean Bart Simpson impersonation!

3. Last year I asked for a handheld vacuum for Christmas so I could kill bugs without having to touch them – touching them grosses me out, but I can’t stand the thought of them running around!  It works great!

4. My favorite color is red!

5. I am a self-proclaimed foodie.  I love to eat, cook, and try different things!  When I go on vacation, I plan the restaurants I am going to go to before I plan anything else.  So far my favorite restaurant ever is Babbo in NYC.  I’m drooling just thinking about it.

6. I drink hot tea with cream and sugar almost every evening.

7. I leave my tv on for background noise a lot – and somehow I always get sucked into the cheesiest reality shows possible!

8. My first camera (that I can remember) was a Kodak Disc Camera.  Most people don’t even remember disc film!

Now I’m going to tag: Jennifer, Stacy, Christie, Rebecca-Linh, and Stephanie!

Trenna & Shane’s Engagement

These two are a photographer’s dream! They were up for anything, ready to go anywhere, and did everything I asked without hesitation – not to mention they are totally adorable together! Funny side note: I like to incorporate things that are special to the couple, so when I asked Trenna while we were on the phone if there was anything in particular they liked to do together, at first they couldn’t think of anything. Then Shane said something in the background about how much they love to go to Texas Roadhouse. They would go whenever they were in a town that had one, and now that there is one in Montgomery, they go there ALL the time! So while it might seem unusual to take a picture in front of a restaurant, Texas Roadhouse is their “thing” – what’s yours?blog1.jpgblog6.jpgblog2.jpgblog5.jpgblog4.jpgblog3.jpg
