Jolly ol’ Nic

I first met Nic at an anniversary party I shot last year – when his mom called me to do his 2 year old pictures, I remembered an adorable happy-faced blonde baby with huge blue eyes. Little did I know he was now a little boy, but still with the happy face and enormous blue eyes. Of course, we had to include his sister and brother in a few shots!

The Midkiff Family

I love shooting families with grown children – I think too many families neglect the family portrait after the kids are out of school.  Remember, no matter how old they get, they will always be your kids, and you will always be their mom and dad!  It was so muggy out that day, and the Midkiffs were such good sports in the heat!  They also have very cooperative pets, Oscar conveniently walked into a great spot for a few shots –  and on top of that, the granddog, Sampson, has to be one of the cutest little dogs I have ever seen!  I will definitely not forget “Spiderdog!” (you had to be there for that one!).

I’m bringin’ Kinsley back…

I couldn’t believe we were doing Kinsley’s 9 month pictures – I really can’t believe that her 1 year session will be coming up very soon!  She was her usual happy, adorable self.  Can’t wait to dive into some cake with you sweetie!

What a crazy couple of weeks!

I know, I know, before you handslap me for slacking on blog posts, let me just tell you, it has been a crazy couple of weeks! My friend Kim got married, so in addition to shooting the wedding, I was also involved in the planning. Then I went to Chattanooga for a photography seminar, and all the while in between and since, I have been shooting sessions since this is holiday portrait season! So look for multiple blog posts in the next few days as I catch up on blogging all those events!

For my weepy brides-to-be…

Who wants black smudges around their eyes on their wedding day (or any other day for that matter)? I have a hard time finding eye makeup that doesn’t smear on me in general, but especially when I am shooting because my left eye is usually squinty while I’m looking through the viewfinder on the camera with my right eye. Squinty eye + humid weather = raccoon face! So when I read about Christian Dior’s Diorshow mascara being popular with celebrity makeup artists, I figured why not try one more product? I decided to try the waterproof version for my squinty eye issue, while my friend Kamee got the regular, non-waterproof version. The verdict: both are fantastic! It gives your lashes great length and volume without being clumpy (no spider leg lashes). So if you think you’ll cry on your wedding day, get some (try it beforehand of course, never try anything new on an occassion like that)!p40404_hero.jpg
