On a roll!

I’m so stoked – just got word that I received another award! This time it was in the 2008 WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) 8×10 1st Half Print Competition, the print below received an Accolade of Excellence in the Individual category. According to the email they sent me, the competition had 900+ entries in 18 categories from photographers all over the world. Let’s hope my good luck holds up for a while!

Brandy & Ken: Engagement

These two are so cute together – even when it is blazing hot outside and we are all sweating bullets! I love how Ken’s dimples started to show toward the end of the session. I have a feeling they’re going to have a really cool wedding, I can’t wait to shoot it!

Rangefinder Article

The article featuring the winners of the Rangefinder/Nikon Cover Contest is now posted on the Rangefinder magazine website – you can see my image on the 4th page! I haven’t gotten my copy of the magazine yet, but I can’t wait! To view a downloadable pdf of the article, click here.

Evelyn & Ben: Maternity

These two are so adorably dorky together, I was not at all surprised when Evelyn showed up with a shirt that read “PREGNANT (not fat)”. After shooting their wedding, I knew this would be a fun session, and they didn’t disappoint me! I think these two can just look at each other, without saying anything, and start laughing. Their baby girl Sophie came along on the 4th of July, so hopefully I will get to meet her soon!

Mission Bay San Diego

*QUICK SIDE NOTE: Apparently, I’ve caught a bit of a summer cold, I’m guessing probably from being on a plane for so long. So if you called yesterday or today and haven’t gotten a response yet, I will get back to you as soon as I can talk without coughing in your ear!

Most of my trip to California revolved around movies – since my aunt had just had surgery, watching a movie was a good choice of things to do because it was something she could do comfortably, plus it was something everyone in the family could enjoy doing. I think when we counted, we had gotten up to six! Most were watched at her house, but we did make it out to the theater for The Incredible Hulk and Hancock. Not “must-sees”, but entertaining enough if you’re looking for something to do!

We did manage one day trip down to Mission Bay San Diego, where I had arranged to take two of my cousins, Jeremy and Matthew, out on the water for a wakeboarding lesson with Greg from WCR Wakeboard School. We ended up bringing another cousin, Joslynn, along with us and while she didn’t wakeboard, she manned the flag and bounced around in the tube better than anyone else! Since it was the weekend of the 4th, it was EXTREMELY crowded, but we managed just fine, even in nasty, choppy saltwater! I did get out there too, but when you’re a photographer, you rarely end up in front of the camera – so the only picture I have is one of me in the boat’s rear view mirror!

There’s more news from my California trip that is Chanterelle Photography related – but I can’t tell you just yet (and no, I am not moving back)! Look for another post in the near future!
