Goin’ back to Cali, Cali, Cali…

Am I dating myself by quoting that LL Cool J song? Many of you know I had to make a trip out to my home state of California on somewhat short notice due to my aunt’s surgery. The good news is, she is doing great! The bad news is, now I am having to play catch up. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding, my family and I appreciate it!

There’s lots of exciting news and things to share coming soon! I have tons of sessions to add to the blog, fun things from my California trip to share, and awesome things coming up for Chanterelle Photography. For now, I’ll tempt your tastebuds – whenever I get a chance to get back to California, I make it a point to eat my favorite things that I can’t get here in Alabama. My family knows that involves getting salt and pepper crab from Newport Seafood (seriously, someone might lose a limb if they tried to pry a piece of that crab away from me), and it wouldn’t be a trip to Cali without a stop at In-N-Out Burger. This time, we also satisfied my sweet tooth by making trips to Sprinkles for cupcakes (living in the South must be rubbing off on me, because the red velvet was my favorite, with the carrot a close second) and Pinkberry for frozen yogurt (we decided that the original flavor was best with strawberries). I’ll be working out twice a day to burn all that off, but it was worth every sinful calorie!

Karoline & Chris: Engagement

These two are special to me because I was there, hiding behind a column, the night Chris popped the question. When I moved closer and Karoline heard the clicking shutter of the camera, the jig was up! This time, we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, and the shoot was easy peasy because these two are so stinkin’ cute together, even when their nutty photographer suggested they get into a less than stable canoe! They brought along their awesome dog Tutter, who was happy to strike a pose with them. I wonder if he’ll be the ringbearer at their wedding in May?

The Hyzer-Plummer Family

I love shooting in Old Cloverdale – the houses always have so much character and great little nooks and crannies to play in. This house was no exception! They had fantastic light in their bedroom, thanks to the huge windows, gorgeous shutters, and linen drapes. Little Quinn was incredibly adorable and cooperative the entire time, as was their sweetheart of a dog, Stella (I love how it looks like she is rolling her eyes in the image below!).

Wedding: Trenna & Shane – Rocky Mount – Prattville, Alabama

These two decided to see each other before the ceremony so they could devote as much time as possible to taking pictures (yay! love that!). When Shane turned around to see Trenna and literally RAN to get to her, I knew we were gonna get some fantastic images that day! It’s always great for me when the pictures are important to the bride and groom, because more often than not, they are willing to let me take the lead and trust me to make the most of the time we have. We went all over Rocky Mount, and laughed when a horse nodded its head up and down when they smooched! When I threw out the idea of doing some shots back at their hotel room, jumping on the bed in their going-away outfits, they were all for it, low ceilings and all! They busted out their old cheerleading skills and were too cute about doing it over and over again to get it just right before they left for their honeymoon in a stretch Hummer from Touch of Class. Thanks Trenna & Shane for letting me be there for you!
